Background
On the 11th of January 1992, police were called to a remote field in rural Jefferson County, Indiana, as two hunters had stumbled upon a body; the body was so badly battered and burned that police first assumed it could have been a drug-related crime, a clear way to send a message.
However, this was not the case - the body belonged to 12-year-old Shanda Sharer. Shanda was not the victim of drug-fueled violence but instead the inhuman brutality of a teenage love triangle.
