Real Life True Romance: The Husband and Wife Who Made A Living Robbing the Mob

In 1993, the film True Romance was released in the United States. The film stars Christian Slater and Patricia Arquette as a recently married young couple who find themselves being hunted by the mob after inadvertently stealing drugs that belonged to a mob associate. The pace of the film kept the audience on the edge of their seat, knowing how violent and committed to retribution the mob is towards anyone who violates and steals from them.
A year prior, on Christmas Eve 1992, a real-life young married couple faced the consequences of stealing from the mob. However, in the case of Thomas and Rosemarie Uva, there was nothing inadvertent about their theft. They had made the incredibly bold and many would say suicidal decision to start robbing mafia-run social clubs throughout New York City.
